No, the blog isn't dead. As the title says, I'm participating on this year's AI Coliseum! It's a competition based in Battlecode where player AIs compete in some kind of real-time strategy board game.
I really like these kind of competitions, and in fact it's funny that I didn't get to know it sooner, but well, better late than never. This game is way more complex than Domains.
It will be running for two weeks (one week has passed at the time of writing), with three tournaments:
- After the first 8 hours of the challenge (8h Challenge)
- After the first week (Sprint tournament)
- After both weeks (Final tournament)
And I'm participating as DarkJaslo!
Since it's the first time I'm participating, I've had to write a lot of auxiliary code and it has really taken very long. However, I think it's paying off really well, since now adapting my strategy is really easy thanks to all that prior work.
In 12 hours, submissions for the Sprint tournament will end, and for now my player is undeniably the best in the ranking. Let's see if someone cooks up a better player before the deadline.
